What is Positive Reinforcement?

Positive Reinforcement (R+) is part of the four quadrants. R+ means adding something to the environment or in this case, to your pups world, to reinforce a behavior. That addition is usually something that will motivate your dog (a.k.a. treats, toys, love, etc). Most people see R+ as bribery training, however, if done correctly, your pup should do the asked behavior without food present, but with the expectation of payment (that treats, toys, etc. that I mentioned earlier) coming. Positive Reinforcement is hard work and owners must be willing to work on training in between sessions to see the results. Let's train our pups in a force free, fear free way!
